P.O.V. Bay Area Animation Festival
The illusion of motion manifests itself right before your very eyes in this installment of the Local Filmmakers Showcase. The visual fare available in this series of short films ranges from scintillatingly experimental to bizarrely comedic. The program features the obsessive works of several animators encompassing such styles as stop-motion, computer, and hand-drawn animations and depict scenarios ranging from robot-riddled nuclear holocaust to levitating pedestrians surpassing skyscrapers; online dating for ninjas gone horribly awry to desert jackals mindful of war. Best of all, the filmmakers conduct their conspiratorial activities designed to exploit your persistence of vision within the clandestine arena of your neighborhoods, perhaps even on your block or, may heaven help you, in your very backyards.
